Ghaziabad: Apparently with an eye on the upcoming polls in the state next year, BJP leader and the party in-charge in Uttar Pradesh Uma Bharti launched her ambitious Ganga cleaning project.
Starting her campaign from Garhmukteshwar, 80 kms from Ghaziabad at a public rally on Thursday evening, Uma said that she will go door-to-door to connect people through her campaign.
Criticising the Centre for its alleged "lacklustre" attitude towards the issue of Ganga pollution, Uma said that she will like to know from the Prime Minister as to how much has been spent on the National Ganga River Basin Authority so far.
Uma said that she will also sit on a fast for saving the river if she does not get an "amicable" reply from the PM.
The campaign was attended by as many as 500 people apart from several state-level leaders of the party.
