Amritsar: Former chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said the next elections in Punjab would be his last as a contestant.
"This will be my last electoral battle. Every soldier needs to hang up their boots some time," Amarinder Singh said in his
interative programme Coffee with the Captain in Amritsar.
Urging people of Punjab to vote for the Congress, Amarinder said this was not the time for experiments, and that the state needed an experienced party and an experienced leader.
"We are in debt, industries, agriculture, economy all have deteriorated. We cannot work on trial and error basis when electing a government," he said.
Making a pitch for industrial development in Punjab, Singh said it was important to create an ecosystem that will let industries thrive.
Singh's 'Coffee with Captain', a take-off on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Chai pe Charcha, is an attempt to reach out to different sections before the Assembly elections in 2017.
