New Delhi/Guwahati: Congress President Sonia Gandhi led her party's march to Rashtrapati Bhawan alleging that the Arunachal Pradesh Governor is trying to topple the Congress government in the state.
Sonia said that the Governor is trying to violate the Constitution.
Meanwhile, sixth session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly which was scheduled from December 16 to December 18, and was on the orders of the Governor hasn't begun. The Speaker of the Assembly has said that there will be no session and blamed it on the alleged interference of the Governor in the normal functioning of the Legislative Assembly and his behavior contrary to the Constitutional propriety.
A day ago, 14 dissident MLAs have been disqualified by the Speaker. This came as Chief Minister Nabam Tuki's Congress government is in serious trouble as a number of MLAs have revolted against him and were camping in New Delhi.
Now, the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Speaker has accused the Governor of acting on the instructions from New Delhi. They have blamed the BJP government at the centre for trying to destabilise the government.
There were minor clashes between the rival groups of MLAs. The matter has also been raised in the Parliament by the Congress.
