Salman Khan Defends Salim-Javed's 'Bratty' Image at Angry Young Men Trailer Launch: 'Unka Dimaag Kharaab Nahi Tha'
Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan delivered big hits like Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewar, Don and Shaan, among many others.

Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan were the most popular and legendary writer-duo of Indian cinema. They worked together for many years on around 24 films and delivered big hits like Sholay, Zanjeer, Deewar, Don and Shaan, among many others. Naturally, when they stopped working together, it left the Hindi film industry shocked. During their years of working, the men earned the title of being ‘brats’. In fact, we get a hint of the same in the trailer of Angry Young Men which chronicles their glorious careers.

In the trailer, Javed’s wife Shabana Azmi and ex-wife Honey Irani are seen talking about how the men lacked humility and how success went into their heads. At the trailer launch event of the documentary on Tuesday, Salman Khan also reacted to these claims. Talking about it, the actor said, “They have refused a lot of producers and actors. That they were bratty comes from there.”

Defending his dad and Javed, Salman implied that it was a classic case of grapes being sour. “People thought that inka dimaag kharaab ho gaya hai. Dimaag inka chal raha tha aur achcha hi chal raha tha. That’s why they kept delivering hits after hits. And those they couldn’t work with because of date issues, not liking the plot, the director or their face, they are the ones who dubbed them arrogant but they weren’t. Those who made these allegations are the ones jinka dimaag kharaab tha,” he elaborated.

At the same event, Javed also spoke about meeting Salman as a baby. “When I met Salim saab for the first time, Salman wasn’t even one year old. It was the year 1965. He’s really handsome today but he has been beautiful ever since he was a child. He was an exceptionally good-looking child. There was a small black and white photograph of him in their living room. I don’t know if it’s still there ya phir kho gayi hai, pata nahi,” he recalled. He added, “Today, Salman is the he-man and this dashing hero but he was very shy and quiet child who spoke very less.”

Produced by Salman Khan Films, Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby, Angry Young Men is executive produced by Salma Khan, Salman, Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan, Zoya and Reema Kagti and directed by Namrata Rao. It is all set to release on August 20.
