Two newly elected MPs from Karnataka took oath as members of the Lok Sabha on Monday while noted film star and BJP leader Jaggesh had a narrow escape in a road accident in Mysore. The TRS floor leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Etela Rajender, and many other party workers were taken into custody when they tried to take out a rally from the Nizam College in Hyderabad on Monday.
Karnataka:
The newly elected Members of the Parliament from Karnataka, famous actress Ramya and DK Suresh took oath as members of the Lok Sabha, on Monday. The Speaker Meira Kumar administered the oath to the duo. Both of them took oath in Kannada. Ramya is the youngest member of the Parliament. She is 30 years and 10 months old.
Veteran Congress leader and the AICC General Secretary BK Hariprasad who has been elected to the Rajya Sabha from his home state Karnataka in a by-poll also took oath in the upper house.
Noted film star and the BJP leader Jaggesh had a narrow escape in a road accident in Mysore on Monday. His car overturned after hitting a tree on his way back from the historic Chamundeshwari Temple on the Chamundi hills in Mysore.
He had gone to the temple to offer a special pooja with his family. He was sent to Mysore city in a police vehicle later.
Andhra Pradesh:
The TRS floor leader in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Etela Rajender, and many other party workers were taken into custody when they tried to take out a rally from the Nizam College in Hyderabad on Monday.
The peace rally "Hyderabad Hamara" was planned by the students' wing of the TRS. The agitators wanted to take out the rally from the Nizam College to Dr Ambedkar's Statue at Tank Bund. However, the police took the TRS workers into custody at the Nizam College stating that prior permission was not taken for holding the rally.
The TRS leaders condemned the arrests and blamed Seemandhra leaders for the police action.
The movement for Samaikyandhra (United Andhra) continues across Seemandhra region for the 26th day. Students, government employees, advocates, traders, workers, artists and many others have been on an indefinite strike since 1st of August. Normal life has been severely affected in 4 Rayalaseema and 9 Coastal Andhra districts. State government buses are still off the road and most of the government offices have been shut.
Kerala:
Shalu Menon, who is out on bail in the sensational solar scam said that she had faith in judiciary. She maintained that she is innocent.
Shalu was released from the Attakulangara women's prison on Saturday after a court granted bail to her and Tenny Joppen, former personal staff of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, with stringent conditions.
She declined to comment on the case. She spoke for the first time after her release from the prison.
She has been accused in a cheating case along with Biju Radhakrishnan, one of the main accused in the solar scam.
