Rahul asks partymen to ensure win in Chhattisgarh polls
Gandhi said that senior party leaders need to work in a tandem for next Chhattisgarh assembly polls.

Raipur: The UPA government is sending more funds to Chhattisgarh as compared the erstwhile NDA dispensation, but due to corruption the money is not reaching to the beneficiaries, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Friday said.

Gandhi said that senior party leaders need to work in a tandem for next Chhattisgarh assembly polls. While addressing a Congress training camp here Gandhi said in 2008, Congress had lost the Chhattisgarh polls not due to the party workers, but due to the senior party leaders "who did not work collectively".

"If we want Congress to win the upcoming assembly polls, then we need to stay and work together," he said. Describing the party workers as "backbone", he said only those partymen, who are working at the grass root level, will be given tickets in the upcoming polls.

Urging youths to come forward to pull down BJP's rule in Chhattisgarh, he said the party workers should go to villages to tell people about the development work being carried out by the UPA government.

Gandhi, who had arrived in Raipur by a plane, attended various programmes and left for Delhi in the evening. Responding to his visit, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said the people of country had shown their inclination during the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls recently.

Expressing confidence that BJP will get another chance to rule the state, Raman Singh added that the people of Chhattisgarh would turn their back towards Congress.

He added that the funds that the UPA government is releasing for Chhattisgarh is ultimately people's money, which is being used for public works by his government.
