Bhopal: Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Thursday said the Madhya Pradesh government's decision to reinstate two expelled Congress MLAs in a short span shows that it lacks "conviction".
The Legislative Assembly on July 18 disqualified Rakesh Singh and MLA Kalpana Parulekar for their "unruly behaviour" on floor of House. Their membership was, however, restored on July 27 through a resolution moved by the state parliamentary affairs minister Narottam Mishra.
"The manner in which the Madhya Pradesh government first expelled and then rescinded the expulsion of the MLAs; it only shows their manner of functioning," Singh said.
He was speaking to reporters after the three-day meeting of the state Congress kicked off in Bhopal.
The BJP at first place expelled the legislators "without applying its mind" and later reinstated them. Once the BJP disqualified two members, it should have stuck to the expulsions, Singh said.
