Kolkata: Trinamool Congress chief and Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has taken on the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government over the issue of rising prices of food items, particularly vegetables.
Just a day after she threatened to resign from the Cabinet and later retracted, Mamata addressed a massive rally on Thursday in Kolkata and demanded a coordination committee to discuss price rise.
"We are not consulted in any meetings. CPM (Communist Party of India-Marxist) is also responsible along with Centre for rise in onion prices," she said while giving a call for protest against price rise on December 27 and 28.
She once accused the West Bengal government of misusing central paramilitary forces and targeting Trinamool Congress activists. Calling CPI(M) of being a killing machine, she thundered that the people of Bengal would teach the ruling dispensation a lesson in the upcoming Assembly elections.
"CPM is a killing machine. The politics of gun will not work. People have had enough. Police have been victimised and bullied into submission. Police have now started killing for CPM," she said.
