Kolkata: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday made a fresh appeal to political parties to find a solution to the impasse over the Opposition demand for JPC on the 2G spectrum issue which stalled the winter session of Parliament.
"I am again calling on parties to find a solution. I have great respect for members and I believe that they also don't want the impasse the continue," Kumar said at a felicitation programme.
"Dialogue is the only way to get a solution," she said, adding "this has commenced and I hope a positive result will come soon.."
While the Opposition has not allowed functioning of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha in the winter session over its demand for a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the 2G spectrum license issue, the ruling UPA has also remained adamant on not going for a JPC, leading the impasse to continue.
"The present situation is in everybody's mind. Democracy means to bring about a mid-path and solve problems," Kumar said while expressing hope that the imbroglio would be solved soon.
She said that if any of four pillars of democracy did not function properly, it would break the faith of the people.
"All the pillars should be very careful to keep themselves above board," the Speaker said.
