Lok Sabha elections: TRS sweeps Telangana, Congress bites dust, KCR the king
A big political gambler KCR will be the first Chief Minister of Telangana which he single-handedly created by forcing the Congress high command to divide the Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad: After Narendra Modi, perhaps the biggest winner in this election is TRS chief K Chandrashekhararao. Rao, the chief of TRS has achieved almost everything he wanted to achieve in just 14 years. In 2001, he quit the TDP to make Telangana state a reality. He got his Telangana in last February. He has now swept both the Assembly and Lok Sabha polls in Telangana.

A big political gambler KCR will be the first Chief Minister of Telangana which he single-handedly created by forcing the Congress high command to divide the Andhra Pradesh.

The TRS has won 69 Assembly seats in 119 member assembly. The halfway mark is 60 seats. He has also won 12 Lok Sabha seats out total 17 in Telangana.

The Congress, which attacked him all through the campaign, has managed to win just 16 seats. The TDP-BJP alliance has also won equal number of seats.

The Owaisi brothers led-MIM has won 7 assembly seats and sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi has retained Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat by a big margin. Others have won 5 seats. The results for 13 assembly seats are yet to be declared.

In Lok Sabha, the Congress which created the new state with the sole purpose of sweeping Telangana has won just 2 seats. The TDP and BJP are leading in one each.

Most pollsters had predicted that the TRS would be able to win maximum 55-60 assembly seats and 10 Lok Sabha seats. But, the TRS has surpassed their expectations.

The TRS will not have any role to play at the Centre as the NDA has swept the polls across most of India.

KCR has won both Assembly and Lok Sabha seats he contested. He won Medak Lok Sabha seat by over 4 lakh votes and assembly from Gajwel in the same Medak district.

His daughter K Kavitha won her debut election from Nizamabad by over 1.5 lakh votes. KCR's son K T Ramarao has retained Sircilla assembly seat and KCR's nephew Harish Rao has won from Siddipet assembly seat.

Congress stalwarts including Union Minister S Jaipala Reddy, Madhu Yakshi Goud and Anjan Kumar Yadav have lost the Lok Sabha polls. The TDP sitting MP Nama Nageshwara Rao has also lost his seat Khammam.
