Karnataka: 54 legislators back Gowda, ready to quit
A party meeting called in by senior BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh to sort through the crisis was held up as Gowda supporters refused to attend.

New Delhi: Nearly 46 MLAs and 8 MLCs on Tuesday pledged their support to outgoing Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda saying they would resign enmasse if their demands were not met.

The Gowda camp had earlier in the day set three conditions for the Chief Minister to resign. They said that Gowda should be made the state unit's President, that the Deputy CM of the state be Gowda's confidante Gobind Kajrol and that the 30 members of the new Cabinet be named.

A party meeting called in by senior leaders Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh following the new twist brought about by the Gowda supporters failed to start on time as they refused to attend it.

While BS Yeddyurappa and his men were present for the meeting at Hotel Capitol, Gowda's camp said it would not attend the meeting.

Reportedly, the Gowda camp has also demanded that 20 of the 30 Cabinet posts be given to them.

Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa too has released his list of MLAs and MLCs.

What's your reaction?
