Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and BSP supremo Mayawati today alleged cases of harassment of the poor by anti-social elements were on the rise under Samajwadi Party rule in the state.
The BSP president, who convened a meeting of senior party leaders and office bearers, asked her party men to protest the alleged harassment of the poor by anti-social and criminal elements enjoying protection of SP, party sources said.
Mayawati issued directives to her partymen for further strengthening the organisation and expanding its base.
BSP decided on candidates for three out of the 13 legislative council seats elections for which would be held, the sources said.
The names of the candidates would be disclosed soon, they added.
