Fake degree case: Kejriwal upset with Tomar, may expel him from AAP
Delhi Police officials will on Friday take Tomar to Munger and Bhagalpur for further interrogation in the case, which investigators believe to be a part of a larger fake degree racket.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Jitender Singh Tomar continues to be interrogated in the alleged fake degree case. The former Delhi law minister is slated to be taken to Bihar on Friday for the verification of his law degree.

Meanwhile, sources said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was upset with Tomar over the issue and the former law minister was likely to be expelled from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers were also slated to meet Delhi LG Najeeb Jung demanding Tomar's resignation as MLA.

Delhi Police officials will on Friday take Tomar to Munger and Bhagalpur for further interrogation in the case, which investigators believe to be a part of a larger fake degree racket.

Meanwhile, the principal of a Munger college, where Tomar procured his law degree from, has reportedly said that Tomar did in fact pass his three-year LLB exam from the institute between 1994 and 1999.

The principal, however, added that it was not possible for the university to verify the past degrees of all applicants unless there was an official complaint.

“Records say that someone by the name of Jitender Singh Tomar took admission here. But that this Jitender Singh Tomar is the same as the politician we cannot ascertain because there is no photographic record," he said.

Before Bihar, Tomar was taken by Delhi Police to Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, where he got his alleged fake B Sc degree from Awadh University.

The Delhi Police have said that they are investigating the possibility of a bigger fake degree racket in the backdrop of Tomar’s degree row. At least 50 witnesses in Faizabad and Munger are said to have told the Delhi Police that they have fake degrees.

Tomar, MLA from Trinagar in Delhi, has, however, maintained that his degrees are not fake and that he would fight the case on merit. Following his arrest, the AAP leader was remanded to four-day police custody by a Delhi court for allegedly forging his science graduation, law mark sheets and migration certificate. Tomar had resigned as the law minister of Delhi after his arrest.

Investigators said that an FIR was registered and the Law Minister was arrested after nearly a month-long investigation established that the documents he submitted in 2011 to register with the Bar Council of Delhi were fake.
