Chennai: The Opposition DMK on Tuesday announced boycotting the Tamil Nadu Assembly for one week protesting against "denial" of adequate opportunities to discuss issues.
A party statement said neither were the DMK members allowed to take up issues nor were they permitted to clarify allegations made against their previous government.
Therefore a question arose if there was a need to participate in the proceedings, the release said while describing the boycott as "token" protest.
The decision came on a day when the party members were evicted en masse following a verbal duel between DMK and AIADMK in the assembly on Tuesday.
In an apparent reference to eviction of DMDK members on Monday, the statement said such action against the opposition had become common.
