New Delhi: The war of words continues between Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh and social activist Anna Hazare. In reaction to being called an RSS frontman by Digvijaya, Anna said that the Congress General Secretary needed a mental asylum.
"In Pune's Yerawada there is a mental hospital, he should be taken there," Hazare said after journalists informed him about Singh's remark that his indefinite fast against corruption at Jantar Mantar in April was supported by the RSS. Singh had raised questions about how his protest site at Jantar Mantar had a painting of 'mother India' similar to the one used by the RSS to depict India.
Meanwhile, under attack over its handling of corruption issue, Congress on Friday sought to take the battle to the opposition camp by alleging RSS hand in the "sinister design" to destabilise the government and slammed the "present attempt to denigrate democratic institutions" to usurp power.
"The RSS is the fountain head of the sinister design to push Indian into the medieval age. The BJP is its chosen political instrument," the party said in a booklet brought out to counter the campaign against the government titled "Congress view on the present situation".
Brought out in the backdrop of the Ramdev and Anna Hazare agitations on the issue of blackmoney and corruption, the booklet alleges that "no matter how the RSS and its affiliates fail in their attempts to win power through elections, they will try every trick to impose their regressive and reactionary agenda on the country.
The 15-page booklet is part of the party's campaign to expose the opposition agenda and the AICC has also planned visits by senior leaders to various states for the cause.
The booklet was released by AICC General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi after which a meeting of the party General Secretaries was also held to chalk out the campaign programme.
