New Delhi: Further highlighting its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's past as a tea-seller, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a full-fledged 'chai pe charcha' campaign under which it will sell free tea across the country.
The BJP is going big with the campaign as it plans to hold it at 1,000 different locations in the country in the run up to Lok Sabha elections.
Senior party leader Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday announced about the party's initiative. She said that Narendra Modi himself would be flagging off this campaign. The BJP also released its new advertisement on 'chai pe charcha'.
She added, "This campaign is so big that there will be atleast 10 rounds and if time allows there will be 12-15 rounds as well. The rounds will be conducted in 1000 locations. Narendra Modi will start this campaign on February 15 and we have identified the 1000 locations from 27 states."
The massive campaign would be divided into three parts, namely share, ask, suggest. This programme will be held between 6-8 pm starting February 12. The BJP also plans to use DTH, satellite, internet, mobile phone and social media to boost the programme.
Sushma said, "We can do 12- 15 rounds too, 1000 locations in 1 round. 300 cities will be covered with this."
This comes days after the Karnataka BJP had set up tea stalls in Bangalore where senior party leaders like Venkaiah Naidu were seen distributing tea.
