The Bihar elections slated for later this year is geared to be a direct face off between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) deciding not to project a chief ministerial candidate in the state.
The BJP has declared that it will fight the state Assembly elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had challenged the BJP to project a CM face after the RJD-JDU alliance announced Nitish Kumar as their CM candidate.
The BJP has so far maintained that the RJD-JDU alliance will not be a threat to them in Bihar.
Notably, senior BJP leader from Bihar, Shatrughan Sinha, had recently raised a demand that the party must declare a chief ministerial candidate to counter Nitish Kumar’s candidature as the CM. Sinha had, however, clarified that he was not in the race for 1 Anne Marg.
