The Assam Assembly polls will be held to elect a total of 126 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs).
The assembly election in Assam will be held on March 27 and the counting of votes will take place on May 2, the Election Commission said on Friday as it also announced the poll dates for West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry.
Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora said the elections will be held in three phases. “Assam assembly elections to be held in 3 phases – the 1st phase of polling will be held on March 27, second phase polling will be held on April 1, and the third phase will take place on April 6,” said CEC Sunil Arora.
