NEW DELHI – The ever combative BJP MP Dr. Subramanian Swamy has now decided to take refuge in the Bhagavad Gita after Prime Minister Narendra Modi snubbed him during a recent TV interview.
India's "Gadfly" took to Twitter to express his disappointment and said "The world is in general equilibrium. A small change in one parameter effects changes in all variables. So Krishna advised: Sukh Dukhe...."
The world is in general equilibrium. A small change in one parameter effects changes in all variables. So Krishna advised: Sukh Dukhe....— Subramanian Swamy (@Swamy39) June 28, 2016
Swamy who has always been considered as an authority on Hinduism, Veda and Upanishads by the Hindutva brigade on Twitter quoted from the Bhagavad Gita, the holy book of the Hindus.
Sukha Dukha Same Krutva is a famous sloka that advises followers to keep a cool head and have a detached attitude when faced with good or bad things in life.
Lord Krishna had advised Arjuna to treat both sorrow and joy with the same attitude or mindset.
Sukha dukha same kritva labha alabho jaya ajayau I
Tatah yuddhaya yujyasva na evam papam avapsyasi II (Sloka 38)
The rough translation which means
Treating pain & pleasure alike, gain & loss, victory & defeat,
Engage yourself in battle. Thus you will incur no sin.
Perhaps, Swamy knows that he can't take on the Prime Minister for his remarks against him.
That also explains the only reason why he seems to have sobered down a bit and has taken refuge in the holy scriptures.
According to people who know him, Swamy may not stay quiet for too long and might once again start quoting from the law books instead of the holy books.
On Monday without mentioning Swamy directly, PM Modi had said, "Whether it is in my party or not, still I think such things are inappropriate. This fondness for publicity is never going to do any good to the nation. People should conduct themselves with utmost responsibility. If anybody considers himself above the system, it is wrong”.
