AAP challenges big guns in its first list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections
The AAP, it appears is trying to sweep away all the big names of Indian politics from their respective constituencies in the upcoming polls.

New Delhi: Having tasted power in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party is now ready to take on the political bigwigs by contesting the Lok Sabha elections.

The AAP, it appears is trying to sweep away all the big names of Indian politics from their respective constituencies in the upcoming polls.

On Sunday, it released its first list of candidates in which it has targeted many senior leaders including Kapil Sibal, Salman Khurshid, Nitin Gadkari and Milind Deora by placing AAP's prominent faces against them.

The tussle between Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and AAP leader Kumar Vishwas for the Amethi seat is not unknown. Vishwas has featured in AAP's first list challenging Rahul from the Gandhi stronghold of Amethi.

Union Minister Kapil Sibal, who has won two straight elections from Chandni Chowk is being challenged by former journalist Ashutosh. Sibal seems to be a favoutite target for the AAP as its convenor Arvind Kejriwal too had once proclaimed that he would be contesting polls against him.

Sibal had conquered the Chandni Chowk constituency by defeating BJP's Smriti Irani in 2009.

The AAP has also very strategically placed Anjali Damania against former BJP president Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur constituency. Damania, an Indian Against Corruption activist had back in 2012 leashed a campaign against the BJP leader accusing him of promoting his business interests at the cost of farmers. The war of words between Anjali-Gadkari fight was in news for quite some time.

AAP has decided to make the LS polls a tough ride for Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra as it has deployed social activist Medha Patkar against NCP's Sanjay Dina Patil in Mumbai North East.
