On the occasion of Twins Day, the Sharada Ganapathi Vidya Kendra in Punyakoti Nagara, Kairangala, located near the Kerala border felicitated 17 pairs of twins studying in the school on Monday, December 18. The vice principal of the school, Ramani Bhandary, said that the school hosts 17 pairs of twins across various classes, ranging from Lower Kindergarten (LKG) to class 10, reported Times Of India.
In the academic year 2022-2023, the school witnessed the admission of four pairs of twins, encouraging the school to recognise and honour all twins. In addition to that, the president of Sharada Ganapathi Vidya Kendra, TG Rajaram Bhat, along with principal Shrihari Bhat, extended congratulations to the twins, Ramani Bhandary said.
Principal Shrihari Bhat stated that the total strength of the school is 914, with students studying in Upper Kindergarten (UKG) to class 12. The principal further informed that a similar function was held in 2021 when the school had 11 pairs of twins.
Furthermore, he said that among the twins, one pair each is enrolled in Lower Kindergarten (LKG), classes 1, 8, and 10. In addition to that, there are two pairs of twins in classes 2 and 7, while three pairs are studying in Upper Kindergarten (UKG), classes 6, and 9. Amongst the twins, six pairs are girls, five are boys, and the rest of the pairs are fraternal twins.
Elaborating further, Principal Shrihari Bhat said, “Managing twins in educational settings can be challenging, especially if they are identical. Most students recognise them, but staff members at times find it difficult.”
“There are other challenges, including potential comparisons between their academic performance or social dynamics, the need for individualised attention to accommodate distinct learning styles, and fostering an environment that respects their identities while promoting a sense of unity,” he added.
Apart from the Sharada Ganapathi Vidya Kendra, the Vizag School also celebrated National Twin Day. Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan hosted the day to commemorate the unique bond that exists between 24 twins. A special photo session was organised for the twins at the school. Dressed in similar outfits, the 24 twins posed themselves on the dais while participating in interesting pair games.
The event also featured PowerPoint presentations showcasing the lives and achievements of remarkable and famous twins. Prizes were given to the best twins in each category. The school director, Vasu Prakash, conveyed best wishes to the students on this special day and presented a uniquely designed frame to the twins.
