One such song that has managed to be one of the top favourites for more than 20 years is Jungle, Jungle Baat Chali Hai Pata Chala Hai, Chaddi Pehen Ke Phool Khila Hai… Released in 1989, the song of a television series was never expected to become such a hit. Not only kids and teenagers but older ones are also often heard singing the song.

Chaddi Pehen Ke Phool Khila Hai was composed by the famous lyricist Gulzar and it was a superhit. It was the title track of the television series The Jungle Book. The show was started in 1989 on Doordarshan. It was directed by Fumio Kurokawa. The series was based on a story by Rudyard Kipling and had Mowgli as its main character.

As per the reports, when Gulzar sent the popular song to the producers i.e. Doordarshan, they did not show confidence in the lyrics of the song. They asked Gulzar to remove the word Chaddi from the song. However, Gulazar was reluctant to do so. He was adamant about using the same word and said, “Yeh Phool Chaddi Mein Hi Khilega.”

Since the show was all set for its release and there was no time for a change in the lyrics of the song and to write a new one, the makers decided to go with Gulzar’s decision. As a result, the title song of ‘The Jungle Book’ was released.

The song was composed by Vishal Bhardwaj whereas Amol Sachdev crooned the song. It is mandatory to note that the singer was just 9 years old when he recorded the song for the television series. Within a few days of release, the song became quite popular and was a super hit. Even today, the song is extremely popular.
