Kangana Ranaut Criticises Animal, Laments Audience's Support For Violence Against Women
In a previous interview, Kangana Ranaut discussed the idea of entering politics, calling it a 'vulgar thought.'

Kangana Ranaut, following Javed Akhtar’s lead, criticised Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal. In a tweet, she blamed the audience for supporting movies depicting violence against women, deeming the trend disheartening. Ranaut also suggested a potential shift in her career in the upcoming years.

Kangana Ranaut shared a fan’s tweet praising her film Tejas, expressing confusion about its underperformance. She attributed the lack of success to alleged efforts by ‘Karan Johar and gang’ to undermine her. Kangana asserted that her movies face a wave of “paid negativity.” She also criticised the film Animal and lamented the audience’s support for films depicting violence against women, referring to them as being treated as objects.

“Paid negativity for my films is overwhelming, I have been fighting hard so far but even audiences are encouraging films where women are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes. Hinting at a possible career change, the actor added, “This is deeply discouraging for someone who has been dedicating her life to woman empowerment films, might shift career in coming years, want to give best years of my life to something worthwhile”.

In a previous interview with ABP, Kangana Ranaut discussed the idea of entering politics, considering it a ‘vulgar thought.’ She emphasized that the decision rests with the public and those in power. Kangana praised her current profession, calling art a pure and blessed profession by Goddess Saraswati. While acknowledging the challenges of politics, she expressed willingness to take up the opportunity to serve her country if needed, stating, “If my country needs me, I’m there.”

Javed Akhtar, preceding Kangana Ranaut, voiced concerns about the success of films like Animal as being ‘dangerous.’ At the 9th Ajanta-Ellora International Film Festival, he expressed worry about scenes depicting the mistreatment of women, citing a specific instance from Animal. Akhtar emphasised that if a film glorifies such actions and becomes a blockbuster, it poses a threat to societal norms.
