In a scene from Aamir Khan’s Dangal, Sanya Malhotra, who portrayed wrestler Babita Phogat, could be seen watching Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge on television in her hostel. The gesture by director Nitesh Tiwari was a homage to Khan and his unique style of filmmaking. Later that year, Sanya shared a video in which she recreated Shah Rukh’s iconic pose from Mitwa in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. As she stars in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, as one of the members of the girl squad, Sanya reshared the video on her social media.
Paraphrasing SRK’s famous dialogue from Om Shanti Om, she captioned it, “Itni shiddat se maine ye manifest kiya hai, ki har zarre ne ye fulfil karne ki saazish ki hai. Kehte hain ki agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho toh puri kainaat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai”.
In a recent interview with Indian Express, Sanya Malhotra had confessed that it was her dream to share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan and other stalwarts of the entertainment industry. She told the portal, “I am excited because I can finally talk about it. Before this I would give some really weird answers every time I was asked whether I am in Jawan or not. I always hoped to work with SRK one day, so it is a dream come true. I cannot wait to see myself around him… it is a dream role, a dream film. Just to be around him makes me really happy.”
Jawan is a Red Chillies Entertainment presentation directed by Atlee, produced by Gauri Khan, and co-produced by Gaurav Verma. The film has released worldwide today in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages.
