Vijay To Play 'Torch Bearer Of Democracy' In Thalapathy 69, Film Releases In October 2025
Thalapathy Vijay will mark his last film with Thalapathy 69, before quitting his acting career and entering politics.

Attention Vijay fans! Basking in the success of his latest release, The GOAT, aka The Greatest Of All Time, Thalapathy Vijay is already set for his next film, tentatively titled Thalapathy 69. To be directed by H Vinoth under the banner of KVN Productions, the film is slated for release in October next year and will be available in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Taking to its social media handles, KVN Productions recently unveiled the film’s poster and announced the film’s details with the tagline, “Torch Bearer of Democracy.”

“We are beyond proud & excited to announce that our first Tamil film is #Thalapathy69, directed by the visionary #HVinoth, with music by the sensational Rockstar @anirudhofficial. Super happy to collaborate with the one and only Thalapathy Vijay. The torch bearer of Democracy is arriving on Oct 2025.”

Prior to this, the makers teased the project on social media with the message, “The next chapter is all set to begin. Just 1 hour to go for #Thalapathy69 Project announcement.” While details about the project and the other cast members have been kept under wraps, the film will officially mark the actor’s departure from acting before he enters politics. Thalapathy Vijay has been planning to solely focus on his political career with his newly formed party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.

More On Thalapathy Vijay’s Latest Release

Vijay was recently seen in Venkat Prabhu’s The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT), which arrived in theatres on September 5. Produced by AGS Entertainment, the sci-fi action film features a star-studded cast with Thalapathy Vijay alongside Prashanth, Prabhudheva, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Mohan, Jayaram, Ajmal Ameer and Yogi Babu. The film is running well across cinema halls, collecting a little under Rs 190 crore in Tamil Nadu. The film’s all-India box office collections stand at Rs 213.25 crore, seemingly aiming to enter the Rs 300 crore club.

The GOAT tells the story of a young field agent and spy, MS Gandhi (Vijay), who lives as a masquerade government employee with his family. Only on a family vacation did his life take an unexpected turn, leading to a series of challenges. The actor plays double roles as the father and son.
