'Temper' review: Whose side are you on? The Good or the Bad? Junior NTR is all of them

In the very first scene, we see a badly wounded NTR, talking to us, explaining his condition in his usual manner. Slow, understandable cut to flashback.

NTR is a police officer working for the criminals. He's on the other side of the law & order. He is befriended by Prakash Raj who is really funny in an item song dancing in bright colored pants and a scene in which his comeback is better than NTR's lengthy dialogue commonly pasted in every cop film.

The film has solid moments that make you think, that make you wonder, that make you want to live in a cleaner society but they are all wasted in a screenplay that devotes time to a song toward the end, romance that is neither here nor there, and a fleeting appearance by Kajal. So, a criminal in a police uniform decides to cross the border and become the cop with punch dialogues but without the paunch because of a crime that changed his view of the world. All's nice up to here. Justifiable.

Crimes against women are not new in our country. We read filth in the newspapers, watch endless debates on television that vie for TRPs, rant and go back to our work and smart phones. Make no mistake, 'Temper', is an NTR film. He cannot lose, whatever the situation may be. We are waiting for the big judgement in our seats which is supposed to be the climax, NTR doesn't care about us, he's dancing to an Anup Rubens's song that nobody gives a damn about. See, now that's a mistake.

Posani Krishna Murali, this man, with minimal dialogue gets the best laughs from everybody. One achievement of this film is in separating the good from the bad. You are either a good person helping the needed or a bad person robbing from the needed. You shouldn't walk in-between badmouthing the bad person. A strict no to middle path. The essence of 'Temper' is revealed in a defining sentence. Bravo!

Amidst the cacophony Prakash Raj, Ali and many others are forgotten. Puri Jagannadh's 'Temper' may not be the big bonanza NTR hoped to revel in yet the film doesn't disappoint you to a great degree. Only if the songs in the second half were given a miss and the frivolity in the first half were taken care of, 'Temper', would have been one of the better films from both Puri and NTR.
