During her ongoing Eras Tour concert in Sydney, Australia, Taylor Swift gave the coveted “22" hat to a 9-year-old Australian girl Scarlett Oliver diagnosed with cancer. Oliver’s stepmother had shared her story on social media, highlighting the girl’s desire to meet the singer and receive the hat from Swift.
According to a video doing the rounds on the internet, Taylor Swift was captured kneeling on the stage at the Accor Stadium, greeting Scarlett Oliver. She shared a warm hug with her young admirer, before kissing her hands and placing the popular black 22 hat on her head.

Earlier on one of Taylor Swift’s Facebook fan pages, the girl’s stepmother Natalie penned a long note revealing that Scarlett Oliver from Perth, was diagnosed with “a high-grade glioma — this is a very aggressive brain cancer with no cure." She explained that the youngster was given a 12-18 month prognosis. She even underwent “surgeries, radiation, and other treatments."

Natalie added that although the Make-a-Wish Foundation promised the tween that she would get the chance to meet Taylor Swift, the organisation failed to make it happen. The mother-daughter duo, however, obtained the Sydney Eras Tour concert tickets at the Accor Stadium on February 24. “Scarlett is so excited and would absolutely love to receive the 22 hats from Taylor (as would everyone else I’m sure)," concluded the statement. On February 21, Natalie once again shared a picture of Scarlett Oliver on Facebook, holding a placard that read, “Taylor, can I have the 22 hat? Please." She urged social media users to spread the message “far and wide" and make Oliver’s dream come true. Seems like the internet community took the responsibility seriously granting Oliver’s wish.
Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concerts have witnessed many rituals like friendship bracelet exchanges, surprise tracks, and mid-song chants. Similarly, the 22 hat honour is a custom where one young concert-goer is selected from the crowd by the singer’s team. The fan is then gifted the bowler hat by Swift herself.
