Somy Ali, Salman Khan's Ex, On Why She Wanted A Chat With Lawrence Bishnoi: 'Intention Was To Encourage Peace...'

Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend, Somy Ali, recently made headlines when she shared an Instagram post for Lawrence Bishnoi. In her now-deleted post, she invited the gangster for a Zoom call after Baba Siddique’s death. In a recent interview, the actor opened up and mentioned how the idea behind the post was to initiate peace talks with Bishnoi.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Somy Ali revealed why she was inviting Lawrence Bishnoi for a Zoom call. She mentioned how she was concerned after Salman Khan received death threats from Bishnoi’s gang. She revealed that she wanted to ‘encourage peace’ with the gangster. Ali said, “The death threats to Salman were truly concerning, and when I addressed Lawrence Bishnoi, my intention was to encourage peace and dialogue, not fuel animosity. Today’s film industry is a completely different landscape compared to the 90s, but safety was always an underlying concern, particularly for women. I never faced direct threats, but there were moments that left me uneasy.”

Ali was trolled on social media after she invited Bishnoi on a Zoom call. She pulled down the post and shared a fresh post where she talked about the trolling. She wrote, “Trolls look for reasons to hate but really what they are mad at is the fact they are not included in anything ever. To the trolls on the internet, I want to say: Get your head out of the computer. Go outside and walk around. Look at the people walking next to you. Look at your friends’ friends and who they’re interacting with. And just understand this is the world we live in. It’s okay to like it. Trolls are slow in the uptake, and mighty suspicious about anything new to them.”

Following the death of political leader Baba Siddique, actor Salman Khan started receiving fresh death threats from the Bishnoi gang. The gang claimed responsibility for the assassination in a Facebook post. The politician was close friends with Khan. The authorities beefed up security for Khan as the matter escalated. He is now being provided Y-plus security and his house and sets are closely guarded.

Ali dated Khan from 1991-99. On the work front, she recently launched her production company.
