Vettaiyan, one of the most anticipated and biggest films of the year, was released on October 10, on the occasion of Dussehra. Unsurprisingly, the premiere day of the film was met with celebrations across Tamil Nadu and the rest of India too, by the fans of superstar Rajinikanth, who had nothing but praises for the legend. According to them, Vettaiyan is a social commentary focusing on the issues of students.
As per the reports of Local18, in the district of Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, Vettaiyan was screened in more than ten theatres from 7 AM. The fans of the superstar patiently waited for the 11 AM show, celebrating the film by lighting little crackers and drum beating. Some even brought pots of milk to anoint the banners of the actors.
Local18 met with the fans after screening, asking them about their experience of the release. A fan stated, “The film is good, even at this age, the superstar has acted as a superstar, we have seen the film and the film is superb.” He added, “I’m 53 years old and I think he’s my role model, we shouldn’t always think we’re old.” According to him, the performances, action sequences, the music, everything was great about the film.
They say the film is a social message focusing on education and how it should not be turned into a business. Vettaiyan is a film which can be watched with children, adults and your whole family, adding more fans.
Directed by T J Gnanavel, the ensemble cast included Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier and many others. It was produced by Subaskaran Allirajah, under the banner of Lyca Productions while Anirudh Ravichander composed the music. S R Kathir was roped in for cinematography and the editing is done by Philomin Raj. Made under a reported budget of Rs 300 crore the film has collected over Rs 100 crore in the domestic box-office, reports further state.
