Dhanush’s second directorial venture Raayan, which was released July 26, is having a dream run at the box office. The revenge thriller has touched the Rs 130 crore mark at the worldwide box office and is still going strong. Marked as the Raanjhanaa actor’s 50th film, Raayan received positive reviews from fans and critics alike.
Going by the tracking site Sacnilk.com, the Dhanush-starrer has minted an impressive Rs 130 crore worldwide after 12 days of its release. Notably, the film has also surpassed the Rs 80 crore mark at the domestic level. The 12-day total collection of Raayan in India now stands at Rs 80.20 crore nett.
The film will be having another week of uninterrupted run at the box office before Vikram’s highly anticipated Thangalaan hits the theatres on August 15.
Raayan stars Dhanush himself along with SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Dushara Vijayan, Sundeep Kishan, Aparna Balamurali and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in lead roles. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film’s music has been composed by AR Rahman, cinematography by Om Prakash and editing is by Prasnna GK.
After Raayan turned out to be a huge hit, it was recently announced that the script of the film has been selected to be included in the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Sun Pictures recently shared a post on Instagram and wrote, “Raayan screenplay has been selected to be a part of the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.”
Meanwhile, Dhanush will be next seen in Kubera, in which he will be playing the role of a homeless man who eventually rises to become a mafia lord. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Akkineni Nagarjuna and Jim Sarbh in the lead roles. The official release date of the film is still awaited. It is expected to hit theatres in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Also, a recent Pinkvilla report suggested that Dhanush might be sharing the screen space with actress Kriti Sanon in director Anand L Rai’s next project Tere Ishk Mein. This will be the Captain Miller actor’s third project with Anand L Rai after Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.
