Nayanthara-starrer Annapoorani To Have Its OTT Re-release On This Platform

Nayanthara is one of the leading heroines in the South film industry. The actress carries the capability to solo lead the film similar to superstars like Rajinikanth, Thalapathy Vijay and others. She was last seen in the Tamil film Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food.

Playing the lead role in her 75th film, it was released in theatres worldwide on December 1, 2023. It was directed by the debutant Nilesh Krishnaa and starred Jai, Sathyaraj and Achyuth Kumar in the prominent roles. The film is set to re-release on the OTT platform after a controversial expulsion from Netflix.

Narrating the story of Annapoorani who aspires to become a chef while facing numerous obstacles, wasn’t so loved by the audience and the fans of the actress. The film was not commercially successful at the box office. Determined to earn income through the OTT release, the makers were in for a ride when the protests emerged over the elicited accusations of promoting love jihad and hurting Hindu sentiments in the film.

It resulted in the expulsion of the film from Netflix. Now, after a six-month hiatus, the film Annapoorani is set to make its return to the OTT space today, August 9. It will start streaming on Simply South. The online platform has announced the comeback of the film. While announcing the film, the makers also released glimpses of the film. Annapoorani is jointly produced by Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran under the banner of Zee Studios, Naad Studios and Trident Arts. The cinematography was handled by Sathyan Sooryan. The plot of the story revolves around the aspiring chef Annapoorani who remains steadfast in her decision to be a chef and secretly joins a hotel management course at university where her parents believe she is doing an MBA.

She faces numerous obstacles including the rejection from her family to process meat, marital pressure and sabotaging mates in reaching her goal. She loses her taste due to an unfortunate accident in the kitchen. The fans are eager to watch Annapoorani on the OTT platform.
