American rapper and singer Megan Thee Stallion is all ready to host the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), and she is excited for a wardrobe extravaganza or as she humorously puts it, “500” outfit changes. In an interview ahead of the big event on Wednesday, September 11, the 29-year-old rapper opened up about what she’s most excited about at this year’s star-studded affair. “I’m excited to change clothes 500 times. I’m excited to perform. I’m excited to see all the Hotties,” she said, showing her enthusiasm for both the fashion and the fans.
“I love New York, I can’t wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I’m excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting,” the Grammy winner added, during an interview with People.
MTV made it official last month that Megan will take the role of this year’s VMAs host, following in the footsteps of Nicki Minaj, who hosted the last two ceremonies. At the event, Megan is up for five awards, including best collaboration for her song Wanna Be with GloRilla. She is also nominated in categories like Best Hip-hop, Best Visual Effects, Best Direction and Best Art Direction for her hit Boa, informs People.
The singer had also made headlines with an advertisement recently. Reflecting on her recent Pepsi ad, her first with the iconic soda brand, Megan shared with People that this and her VMAs hosting gig mark “very iconic moments” in her career. The ad also featured some NFL stars like Travis Kelce and Josh Allen.
“I’m like, ‘OK, now you all better stop acting like I’m not famous around here because I’m doing all the things,'” Megan joked. “This is going to be so iconic, and it’s going to be great. I can’t wait for everybody to see it,” she added.
The nominations for this year’s VMAs are led by Taylor Swift with 10 nods, followed closely by Post Malone with nine. Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem and Ariana Grande each have six nominations.
Katy Perry is reportedly set to be honoured with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and fans can expect her to perform a medley of her greatest hits, along with possibly some new tracks from her upcoming album 143.
Other performers taking the stage at the 2024 VMAs include Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, GloRilla, Anitta, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, Halsey, Karol G, LL Cool J, Lenny Kravitz, LISA from Blackpink, Shawn Mendes and Rauw Alejandro.
