Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun are set to delight audiences with their new film Love in the Big City, which is already creating a buzz ahead of its release. The excitement grew as the first teaser was dropped recently, which offers a sweet glimpse of the chemistry between Go-eun’s character, Jae Hee, and Sang-hyun’s Heung Soo. The teaser features the two having fun, understanding each other and blossoming romance between the two.
Interestingly, Love in the Big City has been selected for the 49th Toronto International Film Festival. It is directed by Lee Eon-hee, known for his work like Love Exposure, Missing and The Accidental Detective 2: In Action. The first teaser not only promises sweet interactions but also some hidden conflicts that aren’t revealed in the teaser.
The upcoming movie focuses on the intriguing relationship between Jae-hee and Heung-soo. While Jae-hee is bold, outspoken and confident, Heung-soo, on the other hand, is reserved and struggles to keep his sexuality a secret. As the two misfits reveal their secrets, move in together and explore their young adult lives in Seoul, they form a unique bond. The movie is adapted from Sang Young-park’s bestselling novel of the same name.
Kim Go-eun had an impressive 2024, as she appeared in Exhuma, South Korea’s biggest film of the year. Meanwhile, Noh Sang-hyun was part of popular Apple TV Plus series Pachinko and Disney Plus series Soundtrack 2.
Love in the Big City is set to reach audiences beyond South Korea. According to Screen Daily, Plus M Entertainment has given distribution deals for the romantic film in major Asian and American markets before its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
KDDI, who acquired the rights to release the movie in Japan, said, “Most Korean films that release in Japan at the moment are action films, targeting male audiences. However, many female audiences are also passionate about K-content due to the influx of K-drama and K-pop. We have always wanted to target those female audiences and Love In The Big City was just what we were looking for."
Starring Kim Go-eun and Noh Sang-hyun, Love in the Big City is scheduled to release on October 2.
