Filmmakers Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, and Sooraj Barjatya joined actors Mithun Chakraborty, Neena Gupta, Rishab Shetty and more to sing the National Anthem at the 70th National Film Awards. The National Film Awards 2024 took place on Tuesday in New Delhi. The ceremony was hosted at Vigyan Bhavan and the honourable President of India, Droupadi Murmu, presented the awards to the 70th National Awards winners.
The ceremony kicked off with short clips of every film that won this year. These include Aattam, Kantara, KGF: Chapter 2, and Brahmastra, to name a few. After the recognisation, the winners and other guests present in the room rose to sing the National Award. The camera panned to show that Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji, Mithun Chakraborty, Mani Ratnam and other celebrities from different film industries sang along with the choir on stage.

Karan Johar attended the 70th National Film Awards on Tuesday to represent Brahmastra as the producer of the film. Brahmastra has won two awards — Best Male Playback, which went to Arijit Singh, and Best Film in AVGC. On the red carpet, Karan lauded Ayan for the win. “I’m truly honored and humbled to be here. I can’t take credit for the special VFX and all as it’s Ayan Mukerji’s vision and effort. This project is his brainchild, and I’m simply here to support my team and stand by them with gratitude.”
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty has won the Best Actor Award for Kantara. The film also won Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Meanwhile, Malayalam film Aattam has won Best Picture whereas Sooraj Barjatya took home the Best Director Award for Uunchai. The Best Actress Award was shared by Nithya Menen for her role in Tiruchitrabalam, and Manasi Parekh for her performance in Kutch Express.
