The popular Kannada actor and anchor Aparna Vastarey passed away after a two-year battle with lung cancer at the age of 57. She took her last breath at her Banashankari residence in Bengaluru. The anchor’s husband, Nagaraj Vasthare, shared the heartbreaking news to her fans through social media. He revealed that Aparna Vastarey was in the fourth stage of cancer. Celebrities and her friends are shocked by the death of the popular anchor and have served their condolences.
A popular face on Kannada television, the actress Aparna Vastarey was a presenter of various shows that aired on DD Chandana in the 1990s. Before marking her presence as a presenter on Kannada television, Aparna Vastarey made her feature film debut in Puttana Kanagal’s film Masanada Hoovu in 1984. It stars Jayanthi, Ambareesh, Chaudhary and Aparna in the lead roles. After this, she did a series of films like Sangrama, Nammoora Raja, Sahasa Veera, Mathru Vathsalya, Olavina Asare, Inspector Vikram, Ondaagi Balu, Doctor Krishna and others. After a bunch of average and semi-hit films, the actress stepped in as a television presenter with DD Chandana in 1990. She was a sought-after presenter by many productions until 2000. According to the media reports, the actress was so engrossed in her profession that she once created a record by presenting shows for eight hours at a stretch. It was part of the Deepawali celebrations in 1998.
During this, the actress also ventured into the profession of Radio Jockey (RJ) with All India Radio in 1993. She went on to work with AIR FM Rainbow as its first presenter. Her voice on the radio and spontaneity while anchoring the show was so loved that KSRTC recorded her voice for the announcements of passenger-boarding and deboarding for the Bengaluru Metro in her voice.
Aparna has worked as an actress in television shows such as Moodala Mane and Mukta. In 2013, she appeared as a contestant in the first season of the Kannada reality television show Bigg Boss that aired on ETV Kannada. Since 2015, she has appeared in the sketch comedy television show, Majaa Talkies, as Varalakshmi.
