Kannada Actor Vinod Raj Gets Emotional As He Remembers His Late Mother On Mahanati Show

Mahanati is a Kannada reality show that allows aspiring actresses to showcase their skills and compete for the chance to become Karnataka’s next big star. It provides intensive training and mentorship to the contestants. Each week poses a new challenge for the contenders. The contestants play the roles of Bharathi, Saritha, Leelavathi and others to remember their iconic roles and pay respect to them for their contribution to Indian cinema.

Last week, actor Vinod Raj graced the show with his presence on the occasion of Ugadi. During the show, the actor got emotional after remembering his mother and veteran actress Leelavathi. Kannada actress Leelavathi died at a private hospital in Nelamangala on the outskirts of Bengaluru city on December 8, 2023. She had been living with her son Vinod Raj for the past few years before her demise. Vinod has expressed his sorrow for losing his mother on several platforms.

The actor Vinod Raj got emotional after Mahanati contestants showcased Leelavathi’s movie journey. He started shedding tears after watching the performance. After entering the show through his unique dance movies, the host asked Vinod Raj about her favourite heroine. To this, the actor replied that his favourite actress has always been her mother.

“The heroine of my life is no one else than my mother. She was a great actress. Amma, who raised you from childhood and made you so big, has left you in your lap.” said Vinod Raj. The actor claimed that his mother left him because she wanted him to take care of himself. He started crying as he completed his statement.

Filmmaker Tharun Sudhir, who is also the judge of the show, shared his loving memory of Vinod Raj. He said that Vinod inaugurated his dance studio. “I opened this dance class when nothing was happening, then Vinod Raj came and inaugurated it. I don’t know if he remembers this or not. But I still remember this.” said Tharun Sudhir. The filmmaker also expressed his desire to work with the actor. The episode was aired on Sunday at Zee Kannada.
