Modern Family star Sofia Vergara’s former husband, Joe Manganiello, 47, and his current girlfriend Caitlin O’Connor, 34, have reached a new milestone in their relationship. The two have reportedly decided to move in together. They are described as “very much in love” and have bonded over their shared roots in Pittsburgh and their love for travelling. Joe’s dog, Bubbles, seems to have approved of Caitlin, which has made living together easier, reports TMZ. A source close to the situation has also informed Page Six that Caitlin still maintains her own residence.
This news comes shortly after Joe finalised his divorce from actress Sofia Vergara, 51. According to TMZ, they honored their prenuptial agreement, which allowed them to keep assets acquired independently during their marriage.
In July 2023, Joe and Sofía announced their decision to divorce after seven years of marriage. They requested privacy, stating that they still care for each other deeply but want different things in life.
Sofia explained to El País that the age difference played a role in their split. As per the documents obtained by the outlet, their prenup allows both actors to keep the assets they had acquired individually during their marriage. TMZ also reported that both Sofia and Joe have waived spousal support.
While talking to Page Six, the couple said, “We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Speaking about the specific reason behind their split, Sofia earlier told El País, “My marriage broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom.” She added, “I had a son at 19, who is now 32, and I’m ready to be a grandmother, not a mother.”
While Vergara is a popular model, actress, and reality show judge, her ex-husband Joe, also an actor, is known notably for films like Spider-Man and True Blood.
Sofia was previously married to her high school sweetheart Joe Gonzalez in 1991 and shares a son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara with him.
Joe and Sofía got engaged in 2014 and married in 2015. Sofía has moved on with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman, while Joe has been dating Caitlin since 2023. They made their red carpet debut at an event in New York City.
