The Kangana Ranaut – Karan Johar war of words is not over yet. Days after Johar asked Kangana to stop using the ‘victim card’ and the ‘woman card’ while speaking at an event in London School Of Economics, the actress has spoken up and stated that she used her her ‘badass card’ on Koffee With Karan and that there is no harm in using the woman card in life.
Kangana had appeared on Koffee With Karan and called Karan Johar a ‘movie mafia’ and ‘a flag bearer of nepotism’. The director, later at LSE, stated that he felt that the actress did not understand the true meaning of nepotism and that if she had so much problem in the way Bollywood functions, she should just leave it. The director felt he had given her a platform on his show to express her opinion and if he wanted he could have edited it but he chose not to.
Now, Kangana, has blasted Karan stating that he was a paid host of a channel and how his team had pursued her for months to make an appearance on the show. “I can’t speak for Karan Johar’s understanding of nepotism. If he thinks that it is restricted to nephews, daughters and cousins, I have nothing to say. But, to say that he chose not to give me work is to mock an artiste. As importantly, his memory appears to be poor because we worked together in a movie (Ungli), which was produced by him. And quickly realised our sensibilities did not match. I’m also at a loss to understand how he gave me a platform by inviting me to be on his show,” said the actress to Mumbai Mirror in an interview.
The actress questioned Karan on his statement about she using the ‘victim card’. “Why is Karan Johar trying to shame a woman for being a woman? What is this about the ‘woman card’ and the ‘victim card’? This kind of talk is demeaning to all women, particularly the vulnerable because they are the ones who really need to use them.”
The actress had no qualms in admitting that she uses every card in her life whenever it is needed. From the badass card to love card to woman card, Kangana said she uses all cards in her life and that it is not a bad thing. She even advised Karan, who is now a father of a baby girl, to offer these cards to his daughter. “Now that Karan is the father of a little daughter, he should provide her with all these cards — the ‘woman card’ and the ‘victim card’, as also the ‘self-made-independent-woman card’, and the ‘badass card’ that I flashed on his show. We will use whatever we need to ensure no one rocks our boat.”
Guess Ms Ranaut has made her point very clear. Over to you now, Mr Johar.
