DC Studios' Peter Safran Has This To Say About Jason Momoa's Aka Aquaman’s Future
Peter Safran, the new DC Studios boss, said that DC will always be a home for the actor.

Hollywood actor Jason Momoa is back on the big screen with his latest release ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’. While the original Aquaman film grossed around $1 billion, going on to become the highest-grossing DC film, it is now yet to be seen if the sequel reaches similar heights. Fans are super excited to see Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry aka Aquaman, the Atlantean King. At the same time, it will be interesting to see how Aquaman’s future unfolds in the DC universe. This comes at a time when there have been rumours that Momoa could be taking different roles in James Gunn’s rebooted DC universe.

Peter Safran, who is now the new co-CEO of DC Studios alongside Gunn, in a recent conversation, with The Independent, spoke about the actor’s future at the company. Stating that people are here to support Momoa on his journey whether it goes on or ends right away, Safran added, “The way James crafted this second film, it feels like a very complete story when you watch the two films together,” Safran shared. “We’ll see what happens with him beyond it. I know that Jason will always have a home in DC and at Warner Bros. In fact, his next movie is Minecraft.”

For the unversed, Minecraft is an upcoming live-action Swedish-American film based on the video game of the same name. Slated to release in April 2025, the Warner Bros film features actors like Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Eugene Hansen, and Emma Myers in prominent roles.

Jason Momoa shares doubts about Aquaman’s future

Prior to this, Momoa told Entertainment Tonight, “I don’t necessarily want it to be the end… but I don’t think it’s really, like, a choice.”

He further went on to add that Gunn and Safran wanted to start their own new thing, further adding, “The truth of it is that if the audience loves Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, then there’s a possibility. But right now, I love this character and would want to play it for a long time. I kind of see where I would want it to go. And even in the next 10 years or so, there are a lot of cool things they can do. And I do enjoy the role and the world. So, I mean, it just comes down to if people love it.”
