The country is engulfed in protests for the horrendous Kolkata doctor case, which occurred on the night of August 9. From the citizens to the prominent public figures have voiced their condemnation of the culprits involved. Actor Mithun Chakraborty is the latest celebrity to join in the widespread disapproval of the heinous crime, demanding immediate justice.

The official X account of BJP West Bengal, called @BJP4Bengal shared a short clip on the platform, which features Mithun, expressing his grief through words of condolences for the victim’s family and calling for an early justice. Talking to the public in Bengali, the actor called the situation in West Bengal “terrible.” According to him, it will only get worse in the state shortly. He said, “I have been saying many times in many places that the situation in West Bengal will be very scary in the coming days… Being a Bengali, I can’t walk with my head up.”

Mithun further added, “My condolences to the family of the deceased doctor. Those who are involved in this incident should be punished as soon as possible, this is my wish.” He then went on to question the law and order of the state. The clip was shared with the tweet, “Atrocities such as the murder of female students in West Bengal, Mahaguru Mithun Chakraborty’s speech to protest against the insecurity of women and demand justice for Abhaya.”

Shatrughan Sinha, another prominent name in Bollywood took to his official socials to condemn the unfortunate crime and the institution involved. The post shared on X stated, “@ShatrughanSinha said that doctors coming out on the streets is not the most desirable thing.” It added that the government and society should take care of the demands put forth by the doctors. The tweet concluded with the words, “But one humble request to the doctors coming out on the streets, this may harm the poor, needy people who need immediate care & may suffer.”
