If a recent media report is anything to go by, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna's younger son Akhil's wedding to Shriya Bhupal, a Hyderabad-based fashion designer has been cancelled. The engagement of Akhil Akkineni and Shriya (industrialist GVK Reddy’s granddaughter) happened in a rather extravagant ceremony in December last year.
However, according to sources who spoke to a leading daily, both families have taken a mutual decision to call off the wedding. And guests who were planning to attend Akhil and Shriya's wedding in Italy have also been informed about it.
Neither of the families have revealed the key reason for cancelling the wedding or even sent out an official statement on this. The couple was supposed to tie the knot in May this year.
"Messages went out last Saturday to guests to cancel their programme. No reason was given. Those who were about to book tickets were advised not to go ahead. Even the tickets booked by both families have been cancelled," a source has been quoted as telling the daily.
One of the guests invited told the daily, "All was well until last week."
