British-American actor and film producer, Elisabeth Moss, renowned for her roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Mad Men, made a surprising announcement during her recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The 41-year-old actress confirmed that she is expecting her first child. When asked by the host, Jimmy Kimmel, whether she was pregnant or deeply committed to method acting, Moss humorously responded, “A little bit of both."
During the interview, Moss, seeking advice as a soon-to-be mother, also asked Kimmel, a father of four, for tips on hospital preparations and essentials for the delivery room. Moss said, “I wanted to ask you if you had any advice," she said. “Things to buy, bring to the delivery room, anything?"
Kimmel shared advice that his wife received from Bill Murray years ago: “He said, ‘Bring Christmas lights to hang or beads of some kind, a nightlight.’ He said, ‘Bring music,’ which everybody tells you, you’ll wanna bring some music. He said, ‘Bring candles’ — which, we did bring candles, and they were like, ‘You can’t light candles in here, there’s oxygen in this room.’ So bring a battery-powered candle if you want a candle."
Kimmel further explained the importance of creating a pleasant atmosphere in the delivery room, as the standard lighting is often subpar or in his exact words, “walmart lighting."

As their conversation progressed, Moss expressed her excitement about the upcoming shooting of the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale during the summer. When Kimmel jokingly suggested blaming any delays on the child, Moss embraced the idea with enthusiasm.
“I can’t wait to start doing that! " Moss said. On being insisted by Kimmel that she could start doing that right away, Moss added, “Can I? Oh, it’s the best. I love that." She then whispered thanks towards her abdomen.
Apart from her pregnancy news in the episode, Moss also discussed her role in the upcoming thriller series The Veil, scheduled to premiere on Hulu in April. Interestingly, Moss disclosed a hospital visit unrelated to her pregnancy, explaining that a challenging fight sequence resulted in a back injury, with a fractured vertebra.
She said, “We trained for weeks and weeks and weeks," she said of a climactic fight sequence. “And apparently, it may not have actually been quite enough, because the first take… I went and did the wrong thing, it wasn’t anyone’s fault, and I went up against a wall and actually broke my back. I fractured a vertebrae." Moss said she continued filming the series the day after the accident.
