Prakash Raj is one of the remarkable actors of the film industry with over 400 films in varied genres to his credit. Born and brought up in a middle-class family background, Prakash left no stone unturned to rise through the ranks and become a successful actor and politician.
On the personal front, the Singham actor tied the nuptial knot with the Tamil film actress, Lalitha Kumari in 1994. Together they embraced parenthood with three children, two daughters, Meghna and Pooja, and a son, Sidhu. Everything was proceeding at a perfect pace for Prakash and his family when they were struck by a tragedy. Sidhu died back in March 2004, after losing his battle with complications which he had suffered after he had a fall while flying a kite in January. Problems began to emerge between Prakash and Lalitha post the demise of his son and they parted ways. They got divorced in 2009. Prakash married the choreographer Pony Verma for the second time and embraced parenthood with a son named Vedanth.
In an interview with the ETimes, Prakash described how he divulged the matter of his second marriage to his daughters. He had said,” I live life the way I am and I didn’t want to lie so I sat my daughters down and explained to them why I wanted to divorce even though Lata did not want to let me go.”
Prakash celebrated his 11th wedding anniversary with Pony Verma on August 24, 2021. The celebration of the anniversary was unique because Prakash’s son Vedant wanted to witness the marriage ceremony of his parents. They happily obliged their son’s adorable request and married again. After the unique wedding cum anniversary celebration Prakash tweeted the pictures of the special occasion. The actor said in the caption, “We got married again tonight…because our son #vedhant wanted to witness it. Family moments #bliss.’’
