The blazing heat and the soaring temperatures have made the summer season unbearable. One of the biggest challenges in the summer season is having to cook food in the kitchen, which may be quite hot. However, if you can take some precautions, then cooking in this season will become comparatively hassle-free. Here are some tips to reduce heat in the kitchen.
Ventilation
It is essential to make sure your kitchen allows proper circulation of air. Good ventilation means, no heat will be trapped inside and will cool down the room as well. If you feel the heat rising in the kitchen, switch on the exhaust fans or open the window or door. You can also consider switching on a fan if required.
Reduce the use of oven
A lot of heat is generated from OTG and microwave ovens. Hence, it’s better to reduce its use in the kitchen during the summer. You can consider grilling or using a slow cooker. Try to avoid gas stoves as well, if possible. Instead use instant pots, an induction cooktop, a toaster or an electric skillet. These produce less heat and the cooking time is drastically reduced as well, which means you can quickly finish cooking and then chill in the air-conditioned room.
Set a cooking time
Cook either early in the morning or after sundown, as during these two times, the temperature is bearable and cooking will not become a herculean task. Also, when you cook in cooler temperatures, less heat will remain trapped inside the kitchen.
Prepare no-cook meals
On days when the temperatures are extremely high, either you can opt to make a quick recipe or you can completely opt out of cooking. You can eat salads, cold sandwiches, homemade drinks or cold soups.
Outdoor cooking
If at all you have the option of outdoor cooking, then there may be nothing better than this. Choose outdoor cooking under some shade using a barbeque grill or large pots. All the heat released will not enter the kitchen and thus, it will remain cool.
Heat-blocking blinds
Another hack to keep your kitchen cool is by installing heat-blocking blinds to kitchen doors or windows. The sunlight won’t stream in and will also keep the heat out, thus keeping the room cooler.
