Harnaam Kaur, a normal girl-next-door has set the priorities right for millions of people out there who're scared and often withered away by bullies and criticism. She was only 11 when she learnt that she's developed a hormonal disorder; poly-cystic ovary syndrome, that led to excessive hair growth among many other consequences. While she had the option of going to regular beauty sessions, she decided to grow a beard instead and changed the entire way people looked at her.
In a rather exciting development, Kaur not only walked the ramp but is now the first bearded female model to have ever walked down the runway. She opened the show for celebrity jewellery designer Marianna Harutunian at the Royal Fashion Day in London.
It is not the first time that Harnaam Kaur has been in the news. In 2015, the 25-year-old created abuzz for her iconic bridal photoshoot as a voice for body positivity.
Confidently sporting a lush beard, Harnaam has taken the internet by storm yet again. While she shared her picture of social media with a caption that is sure to inspire you all, the onus lies on you to love yourself the way you are. The last line of the caption reads: "Every path is my runway! Walk with your head up high and ooze confidence always!"
I grew up watching America's next top model, and i admired @tyrabanks whole heartedly. I always wanted to be like the pretty models, so i remember copying the way they posed and walked. I grew up being told i was to fat, ugly, and disgusting to even model. I was told i'd never walk the runway. I used to look at models and tell myself that i will never ever be able to do what they are doing. I am not pretty enough or beautiful enough and i dont have the 'right' body type. I was laughed at when i said i wanted to model. Jokes on my bullies. I was lucky enough to walk for @mariannaharutunian as the first bearded lady to walk for a celebrity jewellery designer. I was humbled to be the first model to walk and open the show for #royalfashionday with the portrait of the legendary #davidbowie looking down on me! Every path is my runway!
