We often hear motivational stories of people achieving success against all odds. Such is the inspiring story of IPS officer Anshika, a testament to resilience and determination. Born and raised in Delhi, Anshika faced a profound tragedy early in life, losing her parents at just five years old. After this heartbreaking loss, she was nurtured by her grandmother and uncle. Her grandmother, a devoted teacher, instilled in her the significance of education from an early age, harbouring dreams for Anshika to rise to the ranks of an IAS or IPS officer. Determined to honour her grandmother’s aspirations, Anshika embarked on her academic journey, starting her early schooling at Delhi University. She continued her education at Ramjas College, where she earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom). Although several job offers awaited her after graduation, Anshika chose to pursue a Master of Commerce (MCom) instead, recognising the importance of a strong educational foundation.
During her postgraduate studies, Anshika’s life took another challenging turn when her beloved grandmother passed away in 2019. This loss was a significant blow, but Anshika’s resolve remained unshaken. She channelled her grief into her studies and began preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE), maintaining focus on her goal of becoming an IPS officer.
Anshika’s journey toward becoming an IPS officer is a powerful narrative of resilience and determination. As she prepared for the UPSC exam, she encountered significant setbacks, facing failure four times. Each time, instead of succumbing to disappointment, Anshika harnessed her strength and renewed her commitment to her goal.
Her story reflects the adage that hard work pays off, and indeed it did for Anshika. In her fifth attempt, she finally succeeded, passing the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) in 2022 with an impressive rank of 306. This achievement secured her selection for the Indian Police Service (IPS), a dream she had pursued tirelessly despite the lack of external support.
