Parasite actor Lee Sun Kyun died on December 27. The South Korean actor was found dead in his car in Seoul on Wednesday, leading the police to suspect death by suicide. While the investigation of his death is currently underway, the three-day funeral ritual is taking place in Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu. The local media spotted several South Korean celebrities, such as Parasite director Bong Joon Ho, and actors Cho Jin Woong, Jo Jung Suk and Yoo Yeon Seok were seen making their way to the funeral.

In a video shared on X, previously known as Twitter, Jo Jung Suk was visibly distraughted by the turn of events. The actor, who will be seen in Lee Sun Kyun’s posthumous film Land of Happiness, was seen making his way out of the funeral service room. Yoo Jae Myung, who will also be seen in the movie, was also present at the funeral. Hospital Playlist star Yoo Yeon Seok was visibly shaken as he made his way to Lee Sun Kyun’s family to offer his condolences.

An emotional Cho Jin Woong was also spotted at the funeral service while The Korea Herald reported Sol Kyung Gu, Ha Jung Woo, Lee Sung Min, Lee Jung Jae, Jung Woo Sung, Ryu Joon Yeol, Jeon Do Yeon, Yim Si Wan, Kim Nam Gil, Kim Jong Su, and Bae Seong Woo were also present at the funeral. Later, the police confirmed that the man has been identified as Lee Sun Gyun. “His identity has been confirmed,” the police said. The report added that police found evidence of ‘lit charcoal briquettes’ inside Lee Sun Gyun’s car, suggesting that he might have died of suicide.

His agency, HODU&U, confirmed the news of his death and urged social media users to refrain spreading false rumours. “We respectfully ask that you refrain from spreading false facts based on speculation or speculation and malicious reports based on them so that the deceased’s final journey will be in peace. The funeral will be held quietly with the bereaved family and colleagues in attendance. We express our deepest condolences on the deceased’s final journey,” they said. The actor will be laid to rest on December 29.
