Vehicles were seen floating in an inundated area in Haridwar as southwest monsoon entered the state bringing in heavy rains. A video shared by news agency ANI showed cars stuck under a bridge and one car floating in muddy, dirty waters as passersby looked on.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the state shall receive very heavy rainfall on June 29 and June 30 along with neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.
“Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to experience very heavy rainfall on June 29 and June 30, while Punjab can expect heavy rainfall on June 30 and July 1. Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi are expected to receive heavy rainfall from June 29 to July 1,” IMD said in its weather report.
Pauri district in Uttarakhand received the highest rainfall on Friday.
Meanwhile, a vehicle was buried under debris on Dugadda Road, located 7 kilometres ahead of Kotdwar, due to continuous landslides from the hillside, which have caused significant disruption in the area.
In Pauri’s Rikhnikhal, the maximum rainfall recorded was 28.5 mm, which is 12.9 mm above the normal level. Lansdowne received 18.5 mm, Dehradun 18 mm, and Nainital 10 mm. The rain has led to a decrease in temperatures across the plains.
