MANGALORE: With the district judicial magistrate on Saturday remanding the St Alphonsa Church attack suspect Shibu alias Shivu, 24, in police custody upto November 8, police have ample time to crack the mystery behind the vandalism.Mangalore East police justifying their request for police custody while presenting the accused, a resident of Pallakere near Jalligudde, argued that they need to check the veracity of the information on whether he made a forcible entry seeking sexual favours with an inmate. The police also pressed charges of disturbing communal harmony by indulging in reckless vandalism inside the church. Shibu, however, maintained that he was drunk and did not remember anything. “I do not know any thing, I was drunk,” he asserted at the district court premises. He remembers being at Morgan’s Gate after consuming Mysore Lancer Whiskey and stopping at the Kankanady market to urinate. He confessed being in an inebriated state when he disrobed inside the church hall.
