Uttarakhand government on Monday asked state officials to expedite construction of Tanakpur-Jauljivi road which will reduce the distance between Tanakpur and Dharchula in Pithoragargh district here by around 75 km.
Reviewing the status of this long awaited project at the secretariat here, Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar said, all formalities regarding forest clearance for the project be completed at the earliest.
A 12 km stretch on the road between Tanakpur and Kakrali ghat is to be widened as part of the project and a two-lane road is to be built on the 123 km stretch between Kakrali gate and Jauljivi, officials said. To be built along the Kali river in Pithoragarh district on India-Nepal border, the 135 km road is likely to reduce the distance between Tanakpur and Dharchula by around 75 kilometres.
